The History of HVACEdge

The Beginning

James P. Schiavone, Owner and President of Better Comfort Systems in Malden, Mass contracted John Dresser to design and develop a unique system to manage his customer base in 1985. Jim had some forward thinking method for tracking customer information and for invoicing customers. On a Wyse 286 with 2Megabytes of RAM, 40 Megabytes of disk space and running SCO Unix with Progress v3, HVACEdge was born. After a successful development of Service Work Order Management, Accounts Receivable, and Customer Relations Management modules, Payables, General Ledger, Service Technician Productivity Management and Service & Maintenance Contract Management soon followed. Better Comfort Systems enjoyed the service and accounting modules for the next 10 years.

Part Two

In 1995, Better Comfort Systems, a leader in commercial HVAC service and maintenance, began it's expansion of their Construction and Installation department and again contracted John Dresser to build a unique software application. Based on Net Profit Pricing, Estimating and Pricing, Sales Management, Purchase Orders, Inventory Management and Capacity Planning and Management modules were developed.

The Grand Plan

In 1996, I partnered with Primetech Corporation of Amesbury, MA to market this software package under the name HVACEdge. Although this venture was unsuccessful, customers who purchased from Primetech Corporation continue to be successful utilizing the HVACEdge System. Since 1998, I have been delivering support services as an individual entity, ensuring the investment of Primetech Corporation's former customers.
